SPRING
FESTIVAL

Sydney
The Sydney Lunar New Year Festival is one of the largest Lunar New Year celebrations outside Asia. Starting from February 10, there will be a 16-day festival with street parties, cultural entertainment, traditional food, lion dances, dragon boat races, and art and light installations.

📍Haymarket Street Festival

February 10, 5-10pm
During the Spring Festival, Haymarket is filled with festive atmosphere, not only with traditional food but also rich performances and cultural activities. Of course, the indispensable dragon dance performance for the New Year!

📍Dragon Boat Race
Cockle Bay Wharf
February 16-18
The largest dragon boat race in the Southern Hemisphere! Over 3000 paddlers will compete fiercely in the water. There will be races, music, and entertainment from February 16 to 18.

📍Centennial Hall New Year Performance

February 17, 2-6:15pm
Performance groups from Chinese, Korean, Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese communities will take the stage at Centennial Hall to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Dragon with dances, music, and songs, sharing their cultures.

Melbourne

📍Melbourne Chinatown

Melbourne's Chinatown will be the bustling center of Lunar New Year celebrations. Here will be a feast of food, music, art, and culture.
The main stage will feature spectacular cultural performances, including grand lion dance performances. Market stalls will be set up along Russell Street, showcasing a variety of traditional and modern goods.
The CYSM lion dance performance will start at 10:30am, and the opening ceremony will be grandly held at the main stage (intersection of Russell Street and Lonsdale Street) at 11:30am. There will be rich cultural performances throughout the day, and market stalls will also be open all day, offering a wide range of shopping options.

📍Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chinese New Year Concert
February 17, 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Chinese soprano star Huang Hui and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Xu Zhong will skillfully blend Chinese and Western classics, highlighting the deep cross-cultural bonds through music.

Brisbane

📍 Queen Street Mall
February 9 and 10
Queen Street Mall will host traditional performances and activities for the Year of the Dragon. A spectacular lion dance parade will start from Edward Street and end at the main stage near the uptown. You can also taste authentic traditional food at Donna Chang and Brisbane Phoenix restaurants.

Adelaide

📍Chinatown Precinct and Gouger Street
February 17
The Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party will be held in the Chinatown area and Gouger Street. Groups from different Asian cultures will gather to showcase traditions through art and food.
