Tertiary Preparation Program

The Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) prepares students forfurther study in an academic setting while also improvingtheir underlying proficiency in English. After completing thecourse,students mayseek to continue their study infoundation studies programs, universities or other tertiaryeducation institutions. The course integrates the four macroskills of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, as well asGrammar, Vocabulary, and Academic Skills.The courseincorporates themes relevant to a variety of highereducation courses so that students are exposed to materialsand tasks similar to those they will find in English-mediumhigher education institutions. The classes seek to givestudents an understanding of academic culture in Englishspeaking institutions. The course also recognizes thatstudents may have a range oflearning styles which need to becatered forusing avarietyofteaching methods.During the course,students are required to completeassignments and situations that are similar to those that theywill encounter in higher education. The course caters fordifferent learning styles and takes place in a cross-culturaenvironment which encourages students to draw on theirexperiences and express theirindividuality.[114632J]
