Master of International Relations

Our Master of International Relations is designed for professionals seeking career advancement or specialist knowledge in various areas of international relations. When you graduate you'll be prepared for a career in international diplomacy, foreign policy, governance, industry affairs, and development - locally and internationally. Throughout the course you'll explore key elements of international economics and trade, cultural diversity, political negotiation and security agendas in a time of rapid globalisation. You'll graduate with the skills to engage with current global issues, develop academic insights, and plan responses to real-world matters. You'll also develop high-level strategic negotiation skills to implement social change across different cultures and societies. Career opportunities exist within local and international inter-governmental agencies and NGOs like Oxfam, Amnesty International and the Red Cross, as well as in government departments such as the Department of Defence, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. You may choose to move into roles in the corporate sector or with independent think tanks, academic institutions and the media. You'll study for 2 years full-time or the part-time equivalent. You may be able to gain Advanced Standing (credit) for previous studies. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.[079184A]
