Course Description
La Trobe's Master of Clinical Neuropsychology degree provides advanced, world-class training that will qualify you to be skilled and effective clinical neuropsychologists, competent to assess and treat adults and children with conditions affecting the brain. We achieve this by delivering a contemporary, evidence-based training program with an equal focus on assessment and intervention; and by employing a competency-based approach to clinical training that integrates theoretical knowledge and practical skill development. Over two years, you'll learn: The theory and practice of clinical neuropsychology Learn the theoretical basis and clinical practice of neuropsychology by completing engaging, practical coursework subjects in neuropsychological syndromes, neuroanatomy, neuropsychological assessment, neuropsychological rehabilitation and more. Clinical skills You'll apply this knowledge across three clinical placements in a range of hospital and community settings, including the sought-after La Trobe Psychology Clinic. Applied research You'll also produce a research thesis on a topic relevant to clinical neuropsychology that advances knowledge of brain-behaviour relationships and has the potential to make a meaningful difference to people living with brain disorders. The La Trobe clinical neuropsychology teaching staff are passionate, experienced, and internationally recognised scientist-practitioners who have held numerous professional leadership positions and won several awards for teaching excellence. We care about every one of our students and we are committed to an outstanding standard of training for all. The opportunity to upgrade to a combined Master of Clinical Neuropsychology/PhD program is available for local applicants after successful completion of the first year of the Master of Clinical Neuropsychology at La Trobe University. Please note: International students cannot undertake studies on overseas exchange in this program. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.
