The Diploma of Information Technology is a one-year full-time [or part-time equivalent] AQF level 5 qualification, which can telescope into a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT, AQF 7) with two further years study. The BIT is described in detail in a separate course proposal. The Dip IT is designed to enable students to acquire a broad, coherent foundational and applied knowledge of the key theories and practices that underpin the profession of Information Technology, and to enable graduates to operate in dynamic business contexts. The breadth of focus of the Dip IT covers programming, networking, and data management. The CIHE Diploma of IT has been carefully aligned with some of the key professional knowledge areas defined by the Australian Computer Society [ACS], but is foundational and does not meet its depth, which is designed with AQF 7 in mind. This alignment attests to the fact that Dip IT provides a solid foundation for the accumulation of knowledge and skills as defined by the CBOK. As IT is a fundamental infrastructure, graduates of the CIHE Dip IT will be able to work in a range of workplace contexts and environments.[105687B]
A school's risk rating is a key factor in determining the evidence required for a student's visa application, making it a crucial point of reference.
For example, if a school has a risk rating of Level 2, the applicant will face more restrictions than in the past and will be required to provide additional documentary evidence, such as proof of English language proficiency and financial capacity
