This program is delivered in a full-time study mode of 20h per week over 2 academic years - 72 college weeks. Students are required to complete 2 blocks of work-based training of 200 hours each to meet the accreditation requirements of ACWA. Work-based placement is compulsory providing practical skills and fostering the confidence and competence needed to excel in the field of community services. The work-based training is supervised and mentored by employer representative, and assessed by qualified trainer who will visit and assess students during placements. Students are issued Logbooks to record attendance, work experience, and evidence of assessments/ participation. In addition, students are required to prepare journals covering their learning experiences during placements.[116056J]

This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.
At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.
Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 200 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
