Introduction
This qualification is essential to become a heavy commercial vehicle technician. Successful completion of this course will allow you to become a qualified tradesperson servicing and repairing trucks, buses, earth-moving equipment, or tractors and other farming machinery.According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, demand for qualified mechanics (including diesel mechanics) grew strongly over the past five years with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. Job openings are expected to remain steady in the near future with around 23,000 job opening expected over the next five years. In this course you will apply your practical skills and gain underpinning knowledge of how to diagnose problems, repair and service a range of systems and components of heavy vehicles and equipment. You'll repair and service engines, transmissions, cooling, steering and suspension systems, electrical circuits and systems, hydraulic and air braking systems, and diesel fuel injection systems. You will also apply your skills and knowledge to complete heavy vehicle safety and roadworthy inspections.Successful completion of this qualification will allow you to apply to become a qualified heavy vehicle tradesperson and continue your career in the industry.[103604D]
