This course will provide an introduction to Christian thinking in the standard areas of: the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, Systematic Theology; Church History; and the Practice of Ministry. The theological perspective of this course will be ecumenical rather than that of a particular denomination; ecumenical here means a willingness to engage with reputable scholarship from any tradition recognised by the World Council of Churches. These areas of study will incorporate individual subjects that are pertinent to New Testament Greek, ethics, missiology, worship, pastoral care. The six areas of study will be taught and assessed through a balance of readings and modules that mediate the following perspectives:Theory and practiceTradition and contemporaryClassical and ‘world Christianity’The principle of contextuality (Korean and Australian)Public issues (e.g. climate change, health, status of women)The principles of diaspora / communitasThese hermeneutical filters mark the distinctive nature of how Iona Trinity College is seeking to examine the intersection of a classical and contemporary theology understanding and application of the Christian faith. They distinguish the college from other Korean providers.Students are tested using a combination of assessment tools, including essays, projects, exegesis and book reviews. The degree will include a capstone subject that allows the student to pursue an area of personal interest while seeking to build upon knowledge acquired through the study of earlier completed units. These assessments are designed to foster a critical and professional understanding of the core subject areas of the Christian faith, as expressed through the course learning outcomes. This course is delivered and assessed in Korean.[116935M]
The school's visa assessment level determines the risk level for students applying for a visa and is a significant reference.
For example, if a school's visa assessment level is 2, the applicant will face more restrictions and be required to provide more written evidence, such as proof of language proficiency and financial capacity.
