Spring has sprung which means it is jacaranda tree season! From October – November the spread of luxuriant purple can been seen across Sydney and beyond, this includes University of Sydney. Our much-loved jacaranda tree stood for 88 years in the quadrangle before it died in 2016. The tree was so iconic – students and teachers had talked and studied under the branches for generations, it was cloned it before it collapsed. The planting of a native flame tree and a clone of the original jacaranda was celebrated in 2017. As the new tree grows, it has become a living legend on the University grounds.

CET Direct Entry Course (DEC) Package Courses update
In the light of the impending national legislation (Australian Government, Department of Education), imposing limits on the number of international students, CET continues to collaborate with our colleagues to manage the DEC Package Quotas for 2025.
To assist you to manage expectations and provide guidance we have created a regularly updated list of 2025 Sem1_2 CET DEC Package Availability, see link below. The list aims to provide guidance on CET DEC Package Course Availability that are “Full” or “Currently Open (Strict Quota Applied)”. It is important to note that CET DEC Package Course Availability “Currently Open (Strict Quota Applied)” are continuously changing and there is no guarantee a place will be available at the time of application.

Graduate Academic Skills (GAS) for students with "unconditional offers" are exempt from CET’s DEC Package Quotas, places are available to this cohort, and we encourage you to discuss GAS with suitable client/s.
Together as we navigate this new and dynamic environment, our focus is you, our trusted partners and providing, where possible, up-to-date and relevant information that enables informed decisions. We look forward to working through this with you.

The next application/payments deadline is 1 November 2024 for DEC25 and DEC5, see highlighted row in green.
Please ensure that you provide the following documentation for your client/s in order for our Enrolments Team to issue an offer letter:
A University Offer only conditional on English and valid for the intended Semester.
A current valid copy of your client/s passport.
Current and most recent official English test result.
Due to student visa application processing time taking longer, we are unable to extend the payment deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered beyond the payment deadline, Friday 1 November 2024, it will be deferred automatically to next available intake. Remember all our dates are available on our website.
New and existing applications can be accessed via our Agent Portal. Please use the Agent Portal for uploading additional documentation for existing applications with your ID and Password.
Graduate Academic Skills (GAS) upcoming deadline dates

GAS is a high-level academic skills course that will give your client/s an introduction to academic culture. It provides an insight into the demands and challenges of studying at the University of Sydney, most importantly it will furnish them with the skills and knowledge to tackle them.
GAS is strongly recommended for those who want to be prepared before they commence their degree. GAS is exempted from CET's DEC Package Quotas and available to your client/s with the documentation listed below, we encourage you to discuss GAS with client/s that fit this criteria.
Please ensure that you provide the following documentation for your client/s in order for our Enrolments Team to issue an offer letter:
- an unconditional University Offer and valid for the intended Semester.
- a current valid copy of your passport.
- current and most recent official English test result.
2024 closedown date and 2025 opening date
CET and the University of Sydney closedown and opening dates are as follows:
CLOSED: Friday 20 December 2024 - 1230 AEST
OPEN: Tuesday 7 January 2025 - 0900 AEST
What you need to do
Ensure your client's contact details are correct and provided in their CET application. This vital information is used by ICT to organise their Unikey (Username) and reset their Password. To avoid delays and frustration please ensure this information is correct and you have entered the client/s full address, contact details at the commencement of their application.
Plan for the closedown dates. During this period there will be no CET support.
