The Certificate IV in Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration is designed for trainees seeking vocational outcomes in marine conservation and habitat restoration. It delivers a comprehensive, innovative range of environmental education outcomes , producing specialized professionals and creating new employment pathways within the marine resource and conservation management industry.
This program provides participants with specialised knowledge and skills in marine conservation management and habitat restoration required for the sustainability of coastal and marine habitats and the development of blue carbon strategies within seascapes and traditional ecosystems of national importance.
The accreditation is tailored to meet the varying needs of industries engaged in coastal and marine environments. Flexible packaging rules allow the selection of elective units based on specific environments and required skills, supporting local conservation and restoration and enhancing employment.
Graduates will possess the competencies required to work in diverse settings, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, research institutions, environmental consultancies, Indigenous land and sea management bodies, and private sector companies involved in marine and coastal projects. The program supports the development of entrepreneurial skills to support conservation initiatives and business development within the marine environmental sector.
The course promotes conservation and restoration efforts and emphasises the integration of First Nations knowledge and community involvement activities.

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in twenty-two (22) units, consisting of five (5) core units and seventeen (17) elective units. Specialised Skills Programs include: Seagrass, Seaweeds and Kelp Forest, Coral, Mangroves, Coastal Dunes, Shellfish, Blue Carbon, Marine Animal Rehabilitation, Breeding and Propagation of marine plants and animals, Marine and Coastal Project Management, Sustainable Sea Country Operations and Aquaculture, and Community Engagement.
