This course will provide a contemporary view of issues associated with human mental health and psychopathology. It will introduce and discuss the notion of abnormality in behaviour, how a range of mental disorders are diagnosed, the prognosis and treatment in human mental disorders as well as the stigma and media coverage of mental health. There will be an emphasis on the current experimental and theoretical research and evidence based clinical practice. The course is appropriate for students with knowledge of advanced statistics and research methods in Psychology. The course content will be delivered via asynchronous (pre-recorded) lectures, synchronous tutorials, readings and self-paced modules and quizzes.
