Welcome to SJC
The prevailing ethos at SJC is one of collaboration with the many partners involved in the education of each student. The relationship between the parent, student and teacher is of utmost importance and SJC provides many opportunities for parents to be closely involved in their child’s education. SJC provides a just and safe environment in which students thrive and learn to be active faith filled citizens. Our motto, Peace Through Justice, guides and inspires us to recognize the rights and responsibilities of each person. Being a Catholic secondary school, we value the Gospel teachings, our community, and, the art and science of teaching and learning. It is important to us that we work in strong partnership between College and parents to create opportunities for each young person to grow spiritually and academically. Each student is valued as an individual and quality time is spent assisting their unique development both within and beyond the classroom. We are currently extensively re-shaping and extending our senior school curriculum pathways to cater specifically for the new leaving age of 17 years. It is our aim that all students will exit with their HSC or a VET certificate, or both, and that they will be effectively prepared for life after secondary school.
SJC draws inspiration from several sources. The life of St Joseph teaches us about obedience, emotional support and hard work. The local coastal environment and the green Tweed Valley reminds us about our responsibility towards the planet and all its living creatures. Pope Pius XII?s words and actions gave us the dove and our motto, Peace through Justice, to remind us that we are all called to be active promoters of peace.
