Cranbrook’s Vision is to be a world class school which encourages and enables all of our students to explore, enjoy and fulfil their potential.
To lead all students to discover and make the most of their talents, to give of their best and to thrive in and love the pursuit of excellence.
As a school we energise the educational environment by offering a rich and distinctive schooling both within and beyond the curriculum and give powerful pastoral support. We uphold the character of our Anglican foundation in order to promote the moral and spiritual development of each student and foster the principles of service.
Cranbrook builds resilience and confidence so that each student can face the challenges of the twenty-first century with personal confidence, intellectual versatility, academic hunger and optimism. We inspire and support them to respect the integrity of differences, lead adventurous, courageous and generous lives contributing to the betterment of society.
As a school we have raised the bar, expanded every boy?s academic horizons to ensure that breadth and balance enrich the pursuit of excellence and thereby cementing the foundations for each boy?s future success. Set high expectations for young people and, more often than not, they will rise to them. We can all strive for excellence and aim high: through doing so, we broaden our range of experience, we acquire strength of character and self- knowledge and we build a destiny. Cranbrook offers a richness of opportunity and works to identify areas of particular interest so that self-belief can grow.
Year 12 College
In 2014 we created Cranbrook?s Year 12 College which is a unique study space for our most senior boys and is designed to be the bridge between school and the independence of tertiary studies.
The HSC experience is a challenging time that brings considerable pressure. The Year 12 College offers our students an excellent working environment both within and beyond the school day, which will also help prepare them for university. The first year of the Year 12 College undoubtedly played an important role in our outstanding 2014 HSC results.
In the College the boys can work on their own, in quiet study groups or with a tutor utilising their expertise, strengthening their skills and approach to study which will serve them well at university and beyond. The varied individual room layout effectively facilitates concepts of modern collegial learning by Year 12 students.
Throughout the year we offer holiday consolidation courses, talks by leading educationalists and visiting fellows which are designed to strengthen our students? intellectual conversation, and enhance the boys? study, and open their minds to new interests.
Pastoral Care Program
Our pastoral care system at Cranbrook School is based around its unique House system. Importantly, the Houses at Cranbrook School are not simply structures for organising the School and facilitating inter-House contests. They genuinely promote an environment in which boys feel safe, gain a sense of identity at the School, and become known and valued as individuals.
Boarding at Cranbrook
Boarding at Cranbrook offers boys a strong supportive home in an educational environment epitomising creativity and exploration.
On a beautiful campus overlooking Sydney Harbour, boarders enjoy access to expansive sporting grounds, gymnasiums, an indoor pool, and out of hours use of all the academic facilities. Supported by an outstanding boarding academic team, the opportunities for learning beyond the classroom are extensive. Boarding Housemasters live in the two Boarding Houses and provide powerful pastoral support.
Last year Cranbrook?s two Boarding Houses underwent a thorough refurbishment resulting in exceptional facilities that meet the demands of growing young men. The culture of our Boarding Houses is not developed simply by the physical space alone but how the space is utilised to integrate, to share, to live together as a family and form deep bonds. They are places where the boys can work, play, and make life-long friendships
