Ryan Watt, Kooweerup Secondary College, shares what he learnt about tai chi below.
“Tai Chi was originally used as a defence. Now it’s used as an art form and a method of relaxation. The movements represent the balance between yin(阴) and yang (阳).
In our Tai Chi lesson, we learnt that patience and relaxation are needed to fully engage with the movements and feel the benefits of the exercise.
The students learned that Tai Chi is all about slow movements. It may look easy but once the movements are broken down into the separate sections and done correctly we saw how much flexibility is required to complete the exercise properly.”
