University of Victoria Update

I am writing to inform you about the updated English requirement for the package course of Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Master of Education.

In response to the recent changes by ACECQA that one year full time study at the tertiary level in Australia is deemed to meet the required English proficiency for Early Childhood Teacher registration, if the applicants have a valid academic IELTS of 6.5/6.0 and successfully complete at least 4 units in the PG level, they may be deemed to meet the English requirement for the packaged course of Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Master of Education. This change will not apply to Graduate Diploma in Education (stand alone).

According to the latest regulations from ACECQA, one year of full-time study at a higher education institution in Australia is considered to meet the English proficiency required for early childhood teacher registration. If applicants have a valid academic IELTS score of 6.5/6.0 and successfully complete at least 4 postgraduate-level course units, they may be considered to meet the English requirements for the packaged course of Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Master of Education. This change does not apply toGraduate Diploma in Education(stand-alone) course.

I note that applicants need to understand that if ACECQA decides to change this requirement in the future, applicants will still need to meet the new requirements in order to get the registration. Another point that I need to mention is that we strictly follow the GS assessment guidelines as per DHA’s student visa requirement.
